Cite Outreach Service
Cite Outreach Service is the new name for the successful and much-valued Northcott Outreach Service. They are still based at Northcott School. They support the inclusion of pupils with communication and interaction needs in mainstream settings across Hull.
Their friendly and professional team are highly trained specialists who have excellent knowledge and understanding of communication and interaction difficulties and the strategies and settings that can be put in place to support these pupils. They work across all key stages.
They work in an advisory role within schools, supporting staff in developing their understanding of communication and interaction difficulties. They aim to empower staff by sharing practical advice, tools, training and strategies to enable pupils to access learning and social opportunities.
Promoting a holistic approach to supporting these young people with the overall aim of enabling them to reach their full potential.
Who they support
Pupils in mainstream Primary and Secondary settings who are identified as having high-level speech, language and communication needs. Where pupils have a communication plan, they will be within the verbal or conversational partner stage.
What they do
The Cite Outreach Service is funded by Multi-Academy Trusts. It provides experienced staff who can advise on Autism specific strategies for pupils in the mainstream sector who are struggling to engage due to difficulties linked to their Autism. The team consists of 4 teachers and 1 support worker and is available to all schools that have committed. Schools can refer pupils for support who have a diagnosis of Autism or who have been accepted on the Autism Pathway.
The service provides a variety of support which is personalised both to the needs of the pupil and the setting. They are a needs-led service, so the level of support varies.
