The Hull SEND Local Offer team wants everyone to be able to use our website easily. Making our website accessible helps visitors find the information they need, including people with disabilities, different language needs and those using assistive technology.

We know that people use the website in different ways. Some people may need extra help to read, hear, or understand information. That is why accessibility is particularly important to us.

Making our website accessible helps everyone find the information they need, including people with disabilities, different language needs, or those using assistive technology.

How to videos

We have made ‘How to’ videos to show people how to navigate our website. These videos help users find information and feel more confident online. The first video explains what Local Offer websites are and what information you can find on them. You can find our videos on our 'How to videos' page.

Recite Me

With the Recite Me toolbar found on our website, you can -

  • listen to words being read out loud.
  • make the text bigger or smaller.
  • change the colours on the screen.
  • translate the text into other languages.
  • get help with reading and understanding words.

You can access a video on how to use Recite Me on YouTube.

The Recite Me toolbar can be turned on at any time. You can find the toolbar at the top of each page.

Checking our website

We do regular checks on our wesbites to make sure they are accessible for all.

Using the Silktide tool, we check our pages for accessibilty problems, along with spelling mistakes, grammar issues and more. Our current accessibility score on Silktide is 99%.

There is a Silktide browser plugin that can be downloaded to your browser and gives you the ability to test webpages for accessibility, as well as including a screenreader tool.

We are always working to make our website more accessible by -

  • fixing problems
  • improving our pages
  • making information clearer and easier to read

Accessibility statement

We use Silktide to help build our accessibility statement which you can access.

This statement tells you more about how we make the website accessible and what to do if something is not working as it should.
