Sensory Process Service training
Universal City Wide Training Offer
SENCo Training
A 2-hour focused training session, designed specifically for SENCos to deepen understanding of sensory processing and its impact on learning and behaviour. Across the session, we’ll look at how to identify a child may be experiencing sensory processing differences and what this might mean in the classroom. The training will provide a toolkit of universal strategies that can be trialled with learners, along with practical ideas for simple, low-cost environmental changes that can make a big difference to participation and engagement. By the end, SENCos will feel more confident in recognising when additional support may be needed, and in guiding colleagues to create inclusive, sensory-friendly learning environments.
Sensory Champions Training
This in-depth, 4-hour training is for staff who will take on the role of “Sensory Champion” within their school. Champions will develop a deeper understanding of sensory processing and how it affects children’s learning, behaviour, and wellbeing. The programme offers detailed training, practical tools, and ongoing supervision to build confidence in supporting sensory needs. Champions will learn how to identify when children may require extra support, trial universal strategies, and advise on simple environmental adaptations. They will receive ongoing support from the service via increased visits to the school. They will also act as a point of reference for colleagues, helping to embed a whole-school approach to creating sensory-aware and inclusive learning environments.
Tier 2 Individual School Training Offer
Whole School Training Sessions
A 1 hour to 1.5-hour session, which can be offered as a twilight session, or as part of the school day, to give staff a practical overview of sensory processing and how it can shape the way children experience school. We’ll explore what sensory processing means, why it matters, and how differences may present in the classroom. The training is designed to build awareness, giving teachers and school staff simple insights and everyday ideas to help all learners feel comfortable, engaged, and ready to learn. These training sessions can be delivered either during the school day or as twilight sessions.
