Organisation
Family Welfare Service
Description

Our service is specifically designed to support parent carers of children and young people (aged 0–19) with complex and life limited medical needs who do not currently receive a continuing care package.

How We Support Families

Our Family Welfare Advisors provide free, practical support to help families safely thrive at home, including:

  • Navigating Disability Benefits: Expert guidance on completing complex, stressful applications for Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Personal Independence Payments (PIP).
  • Accessing Charitable Grants: Researching and applying for critical funding for essentials not covered by the NHS (such as specialized car seats, P-Pod or specialist seating, sensory toys, or emergency white goods).
  • Crisis Support: Providing direct access to Foodbank and Fuel Bank vouchers for families experiencing immediate financial hardship.
  • Local Signposting: Connecting families with trusted local networks, peer support, and community services.
