As part of our ongoing work to strengthen commissioning and support for Alternative Provision across Hull, we’re inviting you to complete a short survey to share your insights and experiences.
Local Offer – Alternative Provision Consultation
The Department for Education defines alternative provision as education arranged for pupils who, due to exclusion, illness, or other reasons, cannot attend their usual school. It also includes education provided by schools for pupils on fixed-term exclusions or those directed to off-site provision to support behaviour.
In Hull, alternative provision might include:
- Specialist centres for behaviour or mental health support
- One-to-one tuition outside of school
- Vocational training or college-based learning
- Work-based learning programmes or supported internships
- Placement in another mainstream school
Hull City Council has a legal duty to arrange education for excluded pupils by the 6th day. This is usually through AP, although in some cases, pupils may be placed in another mainstream setting.
