Who we are
We are the Children’s Physiotherapy team based at Hull Royal Infirmary. We are a kind, compassionate and caring team of Physiotherapists who specialise in treating children with a variety of health conditions.
What we do
The Children's Physiotherapy team supports children and young people to develop their physical abilities, promote independence, and improve functional skills. We work with children and their families to help each child achieve their full potential and enhance their overall quality of life.
Who can access it
We take referrals for children under 2, with a Hull GP, with gross motor delays, genetic conditions affecting their gross motor development like Down’s syndrome, neuromuscular disorders like Myotonic Dystrophy and neurological conditions like Cerebral Palsy.
We treat children, with a Hull and East Riding GP, who have undergone orthopaedic surgery that affects their function and mobility. We treat these children as inpatients to facilitate a safe discharge home and as outpatients to allow them to return to full function.
We take referrals for children, aged 12 and below with a Hull GP with a variety of Musculoskeletal conditions including Torticollis, Erb’s Palsy, growth related conditions like Sever’s disease, Perthes disease and acute MSK injuries affecting their function.
We run a service for children born with Congenital Talipes in the Hull and East Riding area, working closely with the Orthopaedic team providing the Ponseti treatment and regular follow up throughout their childhood.
We treat children or young people who have experienced an acute neurological episode or trauma, for an acute period of rehabilitation.
