Roles and responsibilities

Assistant Caseworker

  • Be able to answer generic questions in relation to process, and specified cases.
  • Log in/process new requests
  • Write out for specified advice
  • Supporting arrangement of meetings
  • Complete consultations with settings
  • Respond to phone calls and emails
  • Process paperwork

Caseworker

  • Facilitate new assessment and review process
  • Support arranging education for learners with an EHC Plan
  • Be able to answer more in-depth questions in relation to process, and specific cases.
  • Will not be able to give advice
  • Request consultations
  • Ensure compliance with Statutory Legislation, Regulations and Guidance
  • Collating information to support processes
  • Facilitating Multi-Agency Meetings

SEND Officer

  • Line manages a number of Assistant Caseworkers, and Caseworkers
  • Support with Tribunal cases
  • Facilitate Multi-Agency Meetings
  • Represent the Local Authority as a Senior Figure
  • Have decision making powers to name settings
  • Ensure compliance with Statutory Legislation, Regulations and Guidance

Further Support SENDIASS Practitioners can also help with

  • Face to face consultations to guide you through assessment, reviews and complaints paperwork
  • Specific and focused support and representation in meetings with professionals, in mediations and at SENDIST Tribunals

SEND Assessment and Review Team

A member of the Statutory SEND Assessment and Review Team is available via telephone to answer your queries every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9am-1pm and every Wednesday from 1pm-5pm. Calls placed outside of these hours will continue to be picked up via the answer machine service and a member of the team will aim to call you back within three working days.

Hull SENDIASS is available to professionals for information and advice when working with families with SEND as well. You do not need a diagnosis or Education, Health & Care Plan to access any SENDIAS Service.
