About Us – P2 Resource Base at Victoria Dock Primary School

The P2 Resource Base at Victoria Dock Primary School is a Key Stage 2 specialist provision designed to support pupils with moderate learning difficulties and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), including those with a diagnosis of autism. All children accessing P2 will have an Education, Health and Care Plan and spaces are allocated by the Local Authority SEND team. We are proud to provide a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where every child is encouraged to thrive -

  • academically
  • socially
  • emotionally

Our provision is centred around a highly personalised approach. We recognise that each child is unique, with individual strengths, challenges, and learning styles. Our experienced and compassionate team of teachers and support staff work closely with every pupil to develop tailored learning plans that promote meaningful progress and celebrate every achievement, no matter how big or small.

Communication and interaction lie at the heart of our practice. Through focused speech and language support, the use of visual aids, structured routines, and sensory-friendly strategies, we help our pupils build the skills they need to understand, express themselves, and connect confidently with others. Social development is also a key focus, with regular opportunities for teamwork, play, and interaction with peers embedded into the school day.

Core subjects, including reading, writing, and maths, are taught within the Resource Base at a pace and level appropriate to each child’s needs. Lessons are delivered by highly skilled staff who adapt content to ensure it is accessible, engaging, and meaningful.

As an integral part of Victoria Dock Primary School, the P2 Resource Base maintains strong links with the wider school community. Pupils are included in playtimes and lunchtimes with their peers and supported as needed to participate fully. Where appropriate, children may also access mainstream assemblies, afternoon lessons, and school activities, ensuring they benefit from a broad and balanced curriculum while receiving the specialist support required to succeed.

We work in close partnership with families and a wide range of external professionals, including speech and language therapists, IPaSS, health services, and outreach teams. This collaborative approach ensures that each child receives consistent, holistic support both in and out of the classroom.

At P2, we believe in every child’s potential. We believe in their progress. And above all, we believe in creating a space where they feel understood, empowered, and ready to flourish—at school and beyond.
