Early identification
Overview
This course is split into 3 parts -
- Part 1 - This session looks at children’s personal, social, and emotional development with a focus on developing children’s self-regulation skills in addition to play-progression/schemas
- Part 2 - This session looks at the ‘typical development’ milestones children generally go through focusing on sensory and physical development. It also looks at how the brain develops and factors which may influence a child’s development
- Part 3 - This training looks at the development of early communication skills and practical activities alongside resources that can be used to promote them. It also explores ideas in supporting early receptive language and understanding and what process to follow if you have an ongoing concern for a child

Nurturing Children’s social and emotional development
Overview
This course is split into 3 parts -
- Part 1 (Friday 6 March - 9.30am to 11.30am)
- To consider key issues regarding expectations, routines, rewards, consequences, and personal qualities in supporting children’s social and emotional development
- To offer practical and effective strategies in dealing with low level concerns
- Part 2 (Friday 13 March - 9.30am to 11.30am)
- To review strategies for effectively including children who present with challenging behaviour
- To think about how early years settings can be safe environments for a specific child/ren to develop social skills and manage their emotions
- Part 3 (Friday 20 March - 9.30am to 11.30am)
- We are joined by an Educational Psychologist who introduces solution solving circles and how they can be used to support the staff team
- To look at behaviour plans to support a consistent approach in Early Years Settings
- To have time to reflect and discuss any further concerns regarding children or practice with Early Years staff and Educational psychologists

Initial SENCO
Overview
This training looks at the role of the SENCO -
- Day 1 (Thursday 29 January - 9.30am to 3pm) - Legislation and working with parents
- Day 2 (Thursday 12 February - 9.30am to 3pm) - Early years paperwork and how to complete it
- Day 3 (Thursday 26 February - 9.30am to 3pm) - Education, Health and Care plan and how to successfully complete it

3-day communication course
Overview
This course is provided in partnership with Early Years from external agencies including Northcott Outreach Service, Speech and Language Therapy and SLD Outreach to support children with additional needs. The course provides information, advice, and strategies to support children social communication and interaction skills and developing early communication.
Early Years Resource Support and Allocation Panel Dates 2026
The deadline for submission of referral to panel is each Wednesday before scheduled meeting – referrals received after this will be processed for the following scheduled meeting.
