- Name
- LoudMouths - Young Persons Engagement Group
- Description
-
The Loud Mouth’s group is open to young people aged 14-25 with special educational needs and/or disabilities. It’s a hub of friendship, growth and making voices heard. We ensure that it’s a safe space for young people to forge new friendships, engage in fun activities and discuss the issues that impact them.
We meet up in person every other Wednesday evening 6-8pm at the Kids Building on Chanterlands Avenue.
Our aim is to give young people opportunities to have their say on the things that really matter to them and to work together to create positive change in our community.
“it’s important for us to have our voices heard because it affects the way we are treated”.
Session ideas are guided by what’s important to young people. Every session is different but there are a few things you can always count on- social time, creative activities, and Pizza!
Things we’ve done recently:
- “Sunflowers Travelling” Art exhibition with Anna Bean for Street Life Museum. Bringing awareness to the wider community about the difficulties that SEND C/YP experience when trying to get about.
- Every year we attend the Collective Get Together which brings together other groups like ours from across the country.
- Building friendships and connection through trips and outings. This year we went to Flamingo Land, Snozone, and went on a nature walk.
