T.I.C. (Tourette's Syndrome Inclusion in the Community)
Description

We support individuals and families who are living with tic disorders or Tourette's Syndrome.

Tourette's Syndrome affects an estimated one in 100 school children. The condition can reduce by adulthood and in some cases tics stop completely. However, for others the condition will continue to affect them for the rest of their lives. Once considered a childhood condition, more and more adults are now being diagnosed, some due to lack of understanding as a child and others with adult onset.

Tourette's Syndrome does not affect IQ but it can impact on learning. Many children try to suppress tics in the classroom, this can consume a child and result in loss of concentration. Tic and co-occurring conditions can get in the way, this can cause difficulties with basic tasks such as reading and writing. Tics and impulsive behaviours can come across as rude and challenging.
