Key Roles

SENCOs are responsible for ensuring that the setting adheres to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice.

SENCOs have many and varied roles, but all will oversee the strategic development of SEN policy and provision. They ensure the implementation of the SEN provision to meet needs and keep an overview of the progress of pupils with SEND.

Parents and carers must be notified of any additional or different help that their child receives and this should be reviewed regularly to ensure that they are making good progress and to set new targets. If the child’s school plans to make any changes to the level of support the child receives, they should discuss this with the parents or carers.
