Hull Truck Theatre

At Hull Truck Theatre they are committed to making the theatre as welcoming and accessible as possible, for everyone and have a wide range of accessible features including visual and audio assistance.

Park Street Performing Arts - SENsations

The SENsations class at Park Street is the SEN theatre group. During this class we discover all areas of the performing arts in a fun and relaxed environment, where the primary focus is to make friends and enjoy themselves!

These activities include -

  • musical theatre
  • dancing
  • playing with musical instruments
  • learning Makaton to some of their favourite songs

This class is open to -

  • teenagers
  • young adults
  • adults of all ages

and they already have a mix of age ranges currently attending who can’t wait to make more, new friends.

Concrete Youth

Concrete Youth is a charity dedicated to enhancing the lives of people labelled as having profound and multiple learning disabilities through cultural provision.

Cinema

Accessible Screenings UK is the first ever comprehensive and searchable listings database for accessible screenings in UK cinemas, including -

  • Subtitled (ST - sometimes referred to as Opened Captioned or OC)
  • Audio Described (AD)
  • Autism Friendly Screenings (AF)
  • Dementia Friendly Screenings (DF)

Some disabled people need to be accompanied by someone else to enjoy the cinema experience. To make being accompanied as easy as possible the UKCA operates the CEA Card scheme.

Museums

From deep-sea trawlers to ancient treasures, modern art to maritime heritage – you’ll find a world of wonder at Hull Museums.

Take a journey through local history or discover world-class collections at any of our free city-centre museums and gallery.

Libraries

Anyone can use our libraries, whatever your age. We have 12 libraries across the city that provide -

  • a wide range of materials for loan
  • computers and internet access
  • fantastic range of events and activities

We offer an excellent support service for schools and also have a home library service for those who are unable to get to a library. 

It’s free to join our libraries, as are most of its services and events. Everyone is welcome whether you live, work or study in Hull, or if you are a visitor.

Clubs

Hull Red

Hull Red is a not for profit community organisation that aims to create social opportunities for people with learning disabilities through music and arts.

Gig Buddies

Gig Buddies is a scheme that brings friendship and a love of music together. It helps people with learning disabilities to do the things they enjoy. They match pairs with and without learning disabilities together based on common interests. It aims to form long term friendship and connections. You can access a YouTube video about this here.

Leisure And Family Support Service (LAFSS)

LAFSS is a non-residential short breaks service offering - 

  • groups
  • clubs
  • activities

  • evenings
  • weekends
  • holiday times

for disabled children and young people aged 0 to 25 years.
